Book Reviews from a Woman’s Point of View – TD Jakes’ Power for Living

Best selling author and spiritual mentor TD Jakes’ line of inspirational text are among Ms. Anatesha Dunn’s favorites. Power for Living is the latest to be released in paperback form and recently, Anatesha Dunn had a chance to sneak a peek at it.

Power for Living, says Anatesha Dunn, is a masterpiece that helps the reader find God’s plan for them. In it, Bishop Jakes admits that even the most devoutly faithful have times where they question God’s plan. It is this openness, says Anatesha Dunn, that make TD Jakes’ books so easily identifiable.

In the book, TD Jakes points out that Jesus was successful in His purpose, notes Anatesha Dunn, because he carried himself with assurance. TD Jakes says that by doing just this, everyday folks can also achieve their goals. This is one loud-and-clear message of the book, says Anatesha Dunn.

Reading about how Jesus stood tall against naysayers and those who opposed His message, states Anatesha Dunn, is very uplifting. Knowing that He loved man so much, notes Anatesha Dunn, and believed in him so strongly, should serve as an example for mankind to do the same in their personal challenges.

TD Jakes teaches that the trials set before man are a prelude, says Anatesha Dunn, for the anointing which is soon to follow. Man must suffer though hardships, reflects Anatesha Dunn, in order to understand fully God’s purpose for him. People struggling in life will find this book encouraging in that Jakes points out that the struggle may not be in vain. Anatesha Dunn believes that God has a purpose for all man, and that perhaps those with seemingly more hardships are simply being prepped for something bigger – a divine destiny. Power For Living serves to solidify this thought for Anatesha Dunn.

Anatesha Dunn finds Bishop Jakes’ suggestion to thank God for ten things He does for her each day a wonderful reminder that nothing is mundane. Small daily miracles like an easy commute, finding a sale on an item much needed, or having the courage to smile in the face of adversity should be credited to Him.

Anatesha Dunn sums up the book with a quote from page 35: “God’s grace is sufficient for you.” When one truly believes this, she says, he or she attains real power for living.
